From bold bouffants to sleek ‘dos at Blush Hair Bar

There’s no shortage of blow-dry bars in the City of Gold, but that doesn’t mean you should entrust your mane to the first stylist with a spare chair. We’re big fans of this style-only spot in the NHC Healthcare Centre in Bryanston, where fabulous co-owner Marcia and her team have totally mastered the art of the round brush.

As you enter this hairstyling mecca with soft grey walls and a mural of blooming pink flowers, you’re greeted with a complimentary cappuccino and cupcake before getting lathered with Redken or Biosense shampoo at one of the three washing stations in the back. Blowouts are a R200 flat fee regardless of your hair length and texture, and you can choose from four signature styles – Runway Ready (smooth and sleek), The Trendsetter (messy beach waves), Curl Couture (soft with lots of loose curls) and Part of the Glitteratti (big hair with lots of volume). You can also opt for The Fashionista and add a braid to your look at R20 per braid.

For a night out on the town, we recommend booking the Curl Couture – a tumble of loose, romantic curls – as well as the Redken pH Bonder treatment, which is suitable for all hair types and visibly increases the strength of your hair and improves its elasticity. Other treatments on offer include the Redken Chemistry, GHD Split End Therapy and Biosense The Ultimate 12 in 1. On Mondays, all signature blowouts cost R100 and on Tuesdays you can get an intense moisture treatment added to your blowout for R200. If that’s not enough to lure you in, don’t miss the pink champagne on offer to make your pampering that much sweeter!
