Aura Skincare & Nail Bar, hidden away on 6th Street in Parkhurst, isn’t new – the salon has been around for six years – but its luxury beauty treatments are some of the best we’ve ever experienced and facialist Pretty’s hands-on facials have both instant and long-lasting effects.
A facial with Pretty at this homely salon nestled in the heart of Parkhurst isn’t really about your face. You’ll leave with sated, soothed and glowing skin, but you’ll also head off with a new perspective on your skin health, and a list of products and tonics that could help it look even better. Once you have a cup of herbal tea in hand, Pretty starts off by asking you questions about your skin health and skincare routine. You might consider spilling all your secrets a totally irrelevant overshare, but this will feed into the bespoke facial Pretty gives you.
My QMS Sensitive Skin Rebalance facial began with a double cleanse, an exfoliating enzyme and a cooling algae mask, during which Pretty magically kneaded the tension away with an intense head, neck and shoulder massage. A serum and dreamy facial massage followed before I headed out into the afternoon with a list of personalised recommendation in my iPhone notes, feeling replenished and reset. This is a 30-minute treatment, but the other facials on offer using QMS Medicosmetics and Dermalogica products are between one hour and 90 minutes.
