Use the best products for your hair type

Let’s be honest – in reality, hair doesn’t fit into the straight, wavy or curly categories we’ve established over the years. It comes in all textures and widths – and demands very specific care.

For dry, frizzy hair, David recommends using the Davines LOVE Shampoo, LOVE Conditioner and LOVE Hair Smoother. We love that the shampoo’s formula is characterised by a soft and creamy foam designed to gently cleanse frizzy hair, while the conditioner’s formula moisturises the hair and helps it restore elasticity, eliminating the frizz effect and making the hair shiny. As for the leave-on smoothing cream? We don’t know what magic was put into this bottle, but it moisturises hair in an invisible way without weighing it down.

If you have chemically damaged hair, David says you can’t go wrong with the Davines Nourishing Shampoo, Nourishing Vegetarian Miracle Conditioner and Nourishing Vegetarian Miracle Mask from the brand’s Naturaltech range. The shampoo cleanses gently with a nourishing action without changing the hair structure and the conditioner is a balm suitable for unstructured and fragile hair. The conditioner deeply moisturises the hair, making it soft, bright, easy to comb and reinforcing the structure. Our favourite is the mask, which is extra moisturising and nourishing for dull, thick or unruly hair.

Those with fine, limp hair should opt for the Davines VOLU Shampoo and the DEDE Conditioner, according to David. This volumising shampoo is a cult Davines product from the Essentials range that gently cleanses the hair, making it soft and light with a lasting boost of body and volume. The conditioner, formulated with red celery extract, is a light and moisturising formulation designed to untangle hair, which also makes it soft and light without weighing it down. The conditioner is ideal for medium fine and fine hair, and for frequent shampooing.

Last but not least, oily hair can easily be managed with the Davines Rebalancing Shampoo from the Naturaltech range and the DEDE Conditioner mentioned above, says David. The shampoo has a normalising and rebalancing formula for problems of excess sebum production and fights against sebum hyper-production and keeps the scalp clean. It’s made with lemon phytoceuticals, which leave hair refreshed and balanced.

Do a treatment once a week

When you feel like a pamper sesh during self-isolation, a hair treatment truly fits the bill. David’s favourites are the Davines NOUNOU Pak Nourishing Repairing Mask and OI Hair Butter. The NOUNOU Pak Nourishing Repairing Mask will surpass your expectations. It’s a complete treatment, offering everything dry and brittle hair needs: Nourishment, moisture and protection. It also contrasts the static effect, which causes fly-away hair, making it easier to brush.

The supremely nourishing OI Hair Butter also delivers immediate results. An antioxidant nourishing butter with a sensory scent, it has anti-frizz disciplinary action, giving extraordinary softness and brightness to the hair with an immediate cosmetic effect. Whichever treatment you go for, David suggests leaving it on for at least 15 minutes to give your hair time to soak up all the nutritious goodness and leave your tresses feeling healthy and just the right amount of hydrated.

Give blow drying and heat styling a break

Self-isolation is a fab opportunity to give your locks a healthy break from the heat – we’re talking your blow-dryer, flat iron and curling wand. For perfectly air-dried hair, David adores the Davines OI Oil. The multi-function oil adds shine and softness to the hair while also detangling and fighting frizz, working especially well on coarse or dry hair. The hair structure is left protected without weighing it down. All you need is two to three squeezes of the oil on damp hair, distributed evenly on the lengths and ends.
